Extreme Auto Fest at Qualcomm

Sunday June 1st I cruised out to the 8th annual Extreme Auto Fest at Qualcomm Stadium. It was an event filled with tricked out, pimped out and modified cars, trucks and Suvs. Throughout the day people enjoyed performances by Frankie J and other local SD artists and LA. Z90 was out on stage hosting the concerts and pumping up the crowd. In between artist performances they held a bikini competition, which was amazing. The competition consisted of about 12 girls and about 3 or 4 where Deja Vu Girls. I got to say there were two girls that well…. should not been in the competition. Nobody has told them a 2-piece bikini is not a good idea. While all of them looked good regardless, top 3 walked away with prizes from “F Street”. Keep reading →

Pictures of Argentina’s National Football Team Training

Posted June 4th, 2008 by Merrick Lozano · No Comments

Feeling a little like a groupie at a rock concert, we ventured out to Kinsell Field to see the Argentina National Football Team train. Thankfully the tip we received was on the money, the parking lot was full when we arrived and the team was already training.

Of course all eyes were set on Lionel Messi once scrimmage got under way. Messi gave fans plenty to cheer about as he managed to get by defenders and go for the goal more than once. Keep reading →

Soccer Crazy sent us a tip that the Argentina national football team will be training at Kinsell Field, home of the Nomads , this afternoon at 5PM. We are publishing this tip given that Argentina also trained at Kinsell Field yesterday, in advance of Wednesday’s sold out match against Mexico at Qualcomm Stadium.

On June 3rd, one day before the match, Soccer Crazy and the Bluefoot Bar will be hosting a Mexico vs Argentina pre-party from 5-9pm and there will be drink specials, and opportunities to win a Mexico jersey, and 2 VIP tickets to the game.

If you didn’t get tickets and are still looking, Craigslist and Stubhub have plenty of resellers waiting to take your money. You’ll have to be willing to pay premium though, we recently needed extra tickets and paid $100 for field level tickets with a face value of $25.

Shop Local this Mothers Day

Posted May 7th, 2008 by Kimmy McAtee · No Comments

Mother’s day is always a hard one. This year I want to suggest some great gifts you can buy locally to keep that economic stimulus money back here in San Diego.

First lets go with the obvious. Spa Treatments!! All mothers like to be pampered. The Knot Stop in Hillcrest has a Mother’s Day Gift Special where you can grab 2 gift cards for a Swedish massage for $99. Treat yourself and go together! If maybe she is worrying she is looking older try a facial at Model Call Salon on Park Blvd. Book an appointment with Mari Symington and mention this post to receive a discounts on Aromatherapy facials: includes deep cleaning, mask, a relaxing face, shoulder, neck massage, and hand massage with heated mittens. Infused with the essential oils recommended for her skin type - 75 min for $65.00 Reg. $75.00.

If your mom is a Gardener make your way to Encinitas to any one of their local nurseries. A list of them is here but I would recommend Anderson’s La Costa Nursery. Package a great plant, with a homemade apron from M.O.M you can pick up at the Pannikin Sample Sale this Saturday. If getting down and dirty isn’t her thing but reaping the benefits is I can’t recommend enough the Little Gardens for Urban Farmers by Full-Moon Farms. These gardens are all ready and set to go. Just add water and sunshine and the plants have been harvested already. I personally have one and use it for fresh herbs while cooking.
