Jake Brown, an Australian vert skater for Blind skateboards fell strait to flat bottom 45 feet at this years X-Games Big Air competition Thursday. Jake Brown, 32, landed a 720 over the 70-foot gap in the big air competition but then began to speed wobble and lost control 19 feet above the quarter pipe falling 45 feet, or the equivalency of falling off a 4 story building. He is lucky to be alive let alone lucky to have walked away with just a bruised lung and liver and a stress fracture on a vertebrae. Pat Duffy, last December on Bob Burnquist’s backyard mega-ramp fell similarly and instead of tucking his legs and landing on his back he put his feet down and shattered his leg from his ankle all the way up to his femur requiring extensive surgery.
Brown is a relatively under the radar skateboarder although he has been riding for Blind for years but expect to see a lot more of him in the mainstream as he would be crazy to not take the endorsements that must be flying in right now from his now famous fall that left America breathless and jaw dropped as people speculated broken bones or possibly death. Brown laid on the flat bottom of the ramp for 8 minutes suffering from a concussion until he stood up waved to the crowd and walked away. Truly amazing he was relatively unscathed.

Jake Brown has big huevos just for attempting this stunt. Another big accident in the world of sports this weekend, was Dario Franchitti flipping his car at the Firestone Indy 400.
