San Diego Comic-Con 2007 is here and we got the top 3 pizza joints within walking distance from the San Diego convention center:

1. Ciro’s Pizzeria
Located next to Side Bar, this NYC-style pizzeria offers pizza by the slice. During lunch (11am - 4pm) you can get two slices and a soda for $5. They sell whole pies too. My personal favorite is pepperoni, sprinkled pesto, bits of ricotta cheese.

Address: 534 Market St., San Diego, CA 92101
Hours: Sunday -Wednesday 11AM - 10PM, Thursday - Saturday 11AM - 2AM
Phone: (619) 696-0405

2. Basic Urban Kitchen and Bar
Basic is a bar and restaurant that servers a really good thin crust pie. It’s located in the East Village across from PetCo Park. The pizza comes in a rectangular shape and you can choose between red or white (olive oil) sauce. Medium serves about 2 - 3 adults, large serves 3 to 4 starving adults. I like the pepperoni on white sauce. Basic is a great place for going with friends and sharing a pie and pitcher for under $40. Large pizza goes for about $20 with tax.

Address: 410 10TH Ave, San Diego, CA 92101
Hours: Monday - Saturday 11:30AM - 2AM, Sunday 5PM - 2AM
Phone: 619.531.8869

3. Gaslamp Pizza
Just 4 blocks from the convention center, Gaslamp Pizza sells pizza by the slice and whole pies. You can get two slices and a soda for $6 until closing time, which is 4am. I usually get a slice of barbecue chicken and a slice of Chicken with Pesto. The pepperoni and cheese is always good too. These guys deliver in downtown area in case your hungry late and night and want a whole pie delivered to your room.

Address: 505 5th Ave, San Diego, CA
Hours: Open til 4AM
Phone: (619) 231-7542

I have to agree these are probably the only three good places to get a good slice of pie. I spend my fair amount of time in Downtown taking photographs, my preference is in the order mentioned above.

Ciro’s is a great choice. If you can drive or have time to commute via public transportation, I highly recommend Bronx Pizza, located uptown in Hillcrest. Search for it via iPhone. It’s so fun and tasty, haha.

It’s a little bit of a hike from the convention center, but I’m a huge fan of City Pizzeria. I prefer it over Ciro’s and find it as good or better than Bronx.

    1125 6th Avenue
(between B & C…hop on the trolley and get off at the 5th Avenue Stop)

Ciro’s is the best pizza joint nearest to the Convention Center. Gaslamp Pizza normally have long lines during Comicon (the time that the pizzeria has the most business) and I haven’t been to Basic.

If you want to go further than the hot spots or if your hotel is nearby, there’s a little pizzeria on Fifth near Broadway, and Broadway Pizza in East Village.
