Miguel Littin (La Ultima Luna), Tony Plana (el Muerto) and Javier Hernandez (el Muerto) were invited guests on Saturday at the San Diego Latino Film Festival 2007.

Miguel Littin, director twice Oscar nominated for Best Foreign Language Film, was named “Guest Festival Director” of the San Diego Latino Film Festival 2007. Litten, one of Latin America’s most respected film directors, said he was honored for the recognition and modestly said he was not sure why he was picked. As Guest Director, the 2007 San Diego Latino Film Festival has asked Miguel Littin to curate films that have influenced him as a director: Roma (Federico Fellini, 1972) and Rebel Without a Cause (Nicholas Ray, 1955). He also presented two of his own films: La Ultima Luna and El Chacal de Nahueltoro.

Tony Plana, best known for his role on Ugly Betty and Resurrection Blvd., was here to promote El Muerto, a comic book movie about a superhero from East L.A. Plana plays Aparicio, a cemetary caretaker, who is a mentor to the superhero Diego de la Muerte (Wilmer Valderrama). Tony Plana said he was thrilled to be part of El Muerto because it’s based in East L.A. and because he gets to play a good guy for a change. Speaking of which, Tony Plana is in person very much like the authoritative tough dad he played in Resurrection Blvd.

El Muerto will be released in theaters and DVD later this year.
