The American League won the 2007 MLB All-Star Game 5-4 over the National League, extending their streak to 10 wins and 1 tie in the last 11 games.
San Diego Padres Pitcher Jake Peavy started on the mound for the National League holding the American League scoreless in the first inning. At th top of the fifth inning the National League was up 1-0 when Chris Young the Padres pitcher took the mound and later gave up an inside the park home run to Ichiro Suzuki that brought the American League ahead 2-1. By the time Trevor Hoffman came to the mound in the ninth inning the American League was leading 5-2. A two run home run in the bottom of the ninth by Alfonso Soriano was not enough and the American League gets home field advantage now in the World Series as a result of their victory.
Seattle Mariners’ Ichiro Suzuki was the All-Star Game’s MVP hitting 3-3. Boston’s Josh Beckett earned the win while San Diego’s Chris Young earned the loss.
