American soccer fans are still savoring the U.S. soccer team’s victory after they rallied from behind to win the CONCACAF Gold Cup last weekend, 2-1 over Mexico at Soldier Field in Chicago. Both teams will get a chance to compete against South American teams this week.
Copa America
Mexico and the United States are guest entrants in the Copa America (South American Championship Cup) hosted in Venezuela. Copa America began last night with Bolivia and Venezuela ending the match in a 2-2 draw and Peru defeating Uruguay 3-0. Mexican soccer fans get a chance to see their team redeem itself in a tough match up against Brazil tonight at 5:45 Pacific Time. US soccer fans will have to wait to see their team in action in tomorrow’s match against Argentina who has not won anything in a while, this could be the US year to really shine internationally.
“We haven’t won anything since 1993 and the pressure is great,” said forward Hernan Crespo of Argentina, who will be taking part in the Copa America for the first time.
TV Coverage
Cox Cable lists coverage of tonights match up - Mexico vs Brazil at 5PM Pacific Time on channel 17. Yeah that is a Spanish language channel but hey, gol and golazo sounds so much better in Spanish anyway.
I could not locate coverage on Cox’s site for the US vs Argentina match tomorrow at 5:45PM Pacific Time.

I did not see it live, but Peru really dominated from the highlights I saw on YouTube.
