San Diego Latino Film Festival kicked off with its biggest opening on record. At the media conference on Thursday, we met some of the cast from Tortilla Heaven including: Lupe Ontiveros, Alexis Cruz, José Zuniga, and the director Judy Hech Dumontet . The film takes place in a small town in New Mexico where a miracle occurs in a restaurant: Jesus appears on one of its famous hand-made tortillas.

The director Judy Hech Dumontet shared how the movie was financed with almost no money and almost didn’t make it to the big screen. Apparently, 50 percent of the footage was damaged as a result of being placed next to radio active material from Los Alamos National Laboratory while on flight to Los Angeles.
Itati Cantoral made an appearance to promote Cansada de Besar Sapos. While answering questions about her movie she spotted her co-star from Los Pajarracos Miguel Rodarte in the crowd and invited him to join her on stage.
