The Chikle Poster Show at VozAlta • Photos by Victor Santana for SanDiegoish
VozAlta presented the Chikle Poster Show on Saturday with music guests Cabron!, Aero Down, FKENAL and Makeshift with unomi and Jorge Luna.
Chikle
It was San Diego’s Enrique Lugo, aka Chikle, first solo show, featuring his political and socially conscious screen-printed posters. Some of his work centered around the Mexican revolution. One of his poster’s had a group of yellow duckies swimming in a lake in a straight line with ammo belts across their chests. It made you stop and think about how something as simple as toy can easily be used by the military, revolutionists or jihadists.
Cabron!, Aero Down, fkenal, Makeshift with unomi and Jorge Luna
Punk band Cabron! started around 9:30ish followed by Aero Down who came down from Long Beach. Next was fkenal (FEE-CANAL) with their instrumental music and moving pictures. Makeshift and unomi (youknowme) closed proper. The crowd flowed from side to side to their music. Their final track featuring Makeshift and Jorge Luna was awesome. Look forward to future collaborations from these two.
