Jeans 4 Justice San Diego this Saturday, “Cinco de Mayo,” give back and feel good with Jeans for Justice presented by Consciously Social. The event is filled with fashion, art, runway show, live performance, and philanthropy: all for a good cause.

Individual tickets are $75 for general admission and $200 for VIP, which includes premier seating at the fashion show, table service, exclusive access to private VIP areas throughout the venue. Limited number of tables are available for $2000 and include VIP access. All proceeds from denim sold at the event will benefit the Center for Community Solutions.

The event on May 5 will be held at a private estate in Rancho Santa Fe, and will feature a runway-style showcase of the customized denim pieces, films from the 2006 San Diego Film Fesitval, privately catered VIP section, guest DJs, dancers, a performance by vocal powerhouse, Miz Mandy, live art painting, a collaborative trunk show and outdoor gallery, signature food and drink, such as the “blue mar-jean-i”, a very special appearance by Kathryn Keats, an interactive silent auction where attendees can bid on their own pair of customized denim. The opportunity to purchase commissioned pieces will be available for guests who want to turn their own denim into Jeans For Justice.

Jeans For Justice is a innovative fashion event that puts new meaning into America’s favorite clothing staple. Selected artists and designers from San Diego, Los Angeles, New York and London will put their creativity into motion with a highly entertaining fashion runway show, live performance, and guest emcee.

Participating artists will design, paint, recontruct and entitle their pair of jeans, which will be worn by models in a high-energy fashion show. The evening will kick off with a live performance by Miz Mandy, followed by guest DJ’s, film-media shows, live art painting and more. Following the fashion show, the designers’ customized Jeans For Justice will be auctioned off to raise proceeds for CCS.

Last year, nearly 900 people gathered to raise money and awareness in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month through an event featuring a fashion show, live music, local artists and silent auction. Consciously Social has even bigger plans for this year’s event.

The concept stems from a grass roots campaign, which encouraged people to wear denim on a designated day in April in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Why denim? In a 1999 case in High Italian Court, a rape conviction was overturned because the victim was wearing jeans. The court concluded, “It is common knowledge…that jeans cannot even be partly removed without the effective help of the person wearing them…and it is impossible if the victim is struggling with all her might.”
