The first Thread Show of the year was at the San Diego Air & Space Museum in Balboa Park. Eighty 80 New Spring lines for men and women from Southern California’s newest independent Brands were showcased. 944 (www.944.com/sandiego) provided the “Crash Pad”, a lounge area where people sat down and relaxed while enjoying a cocktail. The crash pad was mostly filled guys waiting for their girlfriends to finish shopping. Our friends from Cream in North Park provided coffee & espresso. There were plenty of food and cocktails, so you definitely weren’t going hungry or thirsty.
LuLu’s Salon by Travis Parker provided complimentary manicures, which was a great success. While Disconnected Salon did the hair for the runway models and guests. I also got a chance to experience something new this year, I got to meet Gavin Bieber which had a no walls photo booth called “PhotoBoof” (www.thephotoboof.com). Just like in a photo booth you find in a mall, you get four pictures taken and you receive your photo strip instantly with the Thread show as a backdrop.
“No Ties Management” provided the male and female models for the runway shows. They showcased for the most part young and upcoming models mixed in with some of their already working models. The runway shows lasted about 20 minutes and showed about half the designers clothes who exhibited on Sunday’s show. No Ties Management is a very recognized talent agency here in Southern California founded by Monica Boselli in 2005.

“DJ here” provided the musical ambiance for the event and the 4 fashion shows, alongside with San Diego’s own Musician and Singer Jorge Luna as the MC for the event and in between he jammed out with his unique beats on his congas.
I got a chance to catch up with Cassie Kogler, owner and designer of New York Couture, who flew in from New York. Her clothing line has a very funky edged design with a great following.
This was definitely a show for the fashionista who wants to stay on top of the latest and upcoming styles. I give this event a two thumbs up. “You stay classy San Diego”.

I went to Thread last year and had a great time. From the sound of things, this year was even better. Would have been nice to see my boy Jorge Luna on the congas.
