For those that know about the Keep A Breast organization, you know they are a labor of love. According to their website, “The Keep A Breast Foundation is a unique non-profit organization creating plaster forms of the female torso, customized by fine artists and auctioned to raise funding for breast cancer. Our mission is to produce art events that increase breast cancer awareness among young people and benefit breast cancer education, prevention and treatment programs in communities around the world.”
With that said, I am proud to announce that the City of Oceanside have officially proclaimed October 12 as “Keep A Breast Cancer Awareness Day“. This is a great honor for Shaney Jo Darden and Mona Mukherjea-Gehrig who founded Keep A Breast in 2000.
This event will be great for family and friends alike. Local musicians: A.M. Vibe, Suburban Nightlife and Ashley Lloyd will be on hand for your listening pleasure. You can also learn how to hula hoop by the entertaining troop Hoopnotica. The Keep A Breast open house will be held at Swiv Tackle Circus located on 530 South Coast Hwy. Oceanside. Gift bags will be given out to the first 100 people.
You will also be able to view 50 breast casts of San Diego women painted by today’s top artists and a Keep A Breast video installation by Carol Martori. October 12, 2008 will also kick off the online auction to raise funds for youth outreach and education programs. See you there!!!!!
