SanDiegoish is looking for a few good people who love San Diego and want to write about it.

Our goal is to build a community-driven project that brings together the best writing and photography San Diego has to offer. If you live, work and play in San Diego (or love San Diego) and want to write about it, drop us an e-mail: sandiegoish (at) gmail (dot) com

Q. Why should I write for SanDiegoish?

A. SanDiegoish is one of the newest blogs in town that is garnering a steady increase in pageviews and new visitors. This is your chance to be a part of something special in San Diego. SanDiegoish is a community platform: for the people by the people.

You write it and we will make sure people find it.

Q. How much do you pay?

A. Nada. Zero. We are unable to pay for any writing at this time, but the free exposure you will get through the site will pay in other ways.

Q. So what do I get for contributing to SanDiegoish?

A. Immediate audience for your writing. You get full credit for your work and retain all the rights to what you contribute to SanDiegoish, plus a link back to your own site. In addition, you will get to participate in our internal contests, which include free concert tickets, cds and dvds, and guest list entry to some of the hottest events in San Diego. Already, we are being invited to more events than we can cover.

Q. What topics are okay to write about on SanDiegoish?

A. Anything that happens in and around San Diego is fair game. Art, fashion, music, local news, surfing, skateboarding, road trips to Baja, TJ, television, food, books, shopping, sex, housing, drugs, immigration, Reader Opinions. General rule of thumb, if you think it’s interesting and believe the fine people of San Diego should know about the subject than send it to us.

Q. Are you guys going to edit my work?

A. We trust in our writers to get the facts right and fix their own spelling and grammar errors. You are responsible for what you write. We will look to see that your links work and may suggest changes to a headlines or tags for SEO (search engine optimization) reasons. We will gladly look at anything you ask us to.

Q. How does one become an Editor at SanDiegoish?

A. There will always be one chief editor and editors for each of the major sections of the site: music, movies, sports, news, food, fashion, technology, nightlife etc. To be considered for an editor position you must post at least 5 times a week for a month. You will be responsible for managing the contributors for your section.

Q. Do editors get paid?
A. Not at this time.

Q. What does SanDiegoish require from their contributors?
A. We require that they write at least 1 post a week.

Q. How do I apply to be a contributor for SanDiegoish?
A. Act as if and send us a sample post for SanDiegoish. Send it to sandiegoish (at) gmail (dot) com. If it’s good our editor Mario Lozano will send you a welcome letter and post it on the site.

Q. Do I have to write in First, Second or Third person?
A. We encourage first person because it is more personal, but third person works too. Pick the form that is most natural for you and stick with it throughout your post.

Q. Do I have to live in San Diego to write for SanDiegoish?
A. No. But you should be familiar with San Diego.

Q. How do I get my picture and blurb on the Staff page?
A. Write 12 posts and you get your spot on the page of fame.

Q. Is it ok to cross-post my SanDiegoish posts on my personal blog or elsewhere?
A. Sure, just give SanDiegoish 7 day exclusive and include the following disclosure: “This material was originally published at SanDiegoish.”

Q. What if I am a photographer, not a writer, can I contribute photos to SanDiegoish?
A. Of course, we like pictures. Join our flickr group. We like photos with captions even better.
