San Diego’s The Upstarts opened with a funky groovy instrumental at Beauty Bar that was like something Carlos Santana and Malo would play to get the crowd euphoric. Having achieved this, their pair of emcees got on the stage and cranked up the energy with their hip hop sound.

The UpStarts are a local band that is primarily made of pinoy muscle. However, one look around the room and you see that they are much more–a San Diego band–by the diversity in the people moving to their music.
