Every week it seems that somewhere around San Diego there is an event that aims to fuse art and music, but no one does it better than TNT @ the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego.

In the terrace you had people making their own public statement in the form of buttons courtesy of Radioactive Future and the music of the Swami Sound System. During our brief time in the terrace, we had a chance to speak with the muralist Mario Torero about his latest mural “City of Future” in Chula Vista.

In the plaza, we got to watch the drawn explorations by some big metal drawing machines made by the students from Woodbury University School of Design and Architecture San Diego. I found one of the art drawing machines (the process) interesting because the artists does not see what he is making. He uses a joystick to control the movement of the arm and splat paint on the canvas while standing behind it. It’s like painting in the dark.

The Power-Chords and The Atoms and friends ROCKed TNT. The “Chula Vista kids” were moshing, as first noted by San Diego blogger Cat Dirt Sez.

TNT (Thursday Night Thing) is every first Thursday of the month (except in January). Next TNT is on May 3, 2007.
