We walked into Thread at what I thought was a reasonable time. We showed up at just around 1 and noticed how sticky hot it was inside the venue and thought we must immediately make it over to get a hosted cocktail. We stood in line and watched several people very confused about having to fork over cash for drinks and wondered if there was a different line for hosted drinks. We asked the bartender once at the front of the line and he replied that he had about two drinks worth of Rum left and that was it. We ordered up two rum and cokes slapped down a tip and apologized to the people behind us. The free drinks were gone, I was quite disappointed and felt the flyer was misleading with the note “Endless Free Cocktails”, which really meant a few free bottles of rum.
Highlights of the show would have to have been Beta Unit who had the perfect spot right at the front entrance. They were showing their line currently in stores which is amazing, as well as had older stock for $12. Home Boutique in Encinitas were debuting some great men’s shoes. All sneaker style shoes made to look like wingtips in several treatments that looked great as well as some select vintage tees. Animal Print was there and if you have never heard of them they make some great long tee dresses that are so thin you can see through them. If I could I would live in them and I was disappointed my pocket book was too weak to shop and I was only there to report and browse as they had items up to 65% off. Subtext was situated over right by the “944 Take 5 Lounge” and had a great selection of books and artwork. If you didn’t have a chance to see them at Thread defiantly head over to their store in Little Italy and while you are at it visit their neighbor Igloo. You will not be disappointed.
However there were a few things that were not disappointing about Thread. The venue was great, and minus the free drinks running out with 4 hours to go. They did have several free water coolers around to beat the heat of the tent. The runway was better than last, but for the first 30 minutes we were there the MC screeched the mic every time he tried to say something, and instead of fixing it he just let us hear the earsplitting noise of feedback… every 5 minutes.
We caught the 2pm fashion show – I had really wanted to see Micha Design and Kites by Carla Manuel and was disappointed they didn’t have a list of who was going to go at which time slot. I did get a chance to see Neighbourhood and Ximena Valero.

I had a rum and pepsi at 11:30, it was rather rumlike, but $7 for white wine seemed a bit silly. Agree that a list of who was showing when would have been a nice touch.
