Did you feel the Earthquake?

By Kimmy McAtee · July 29th, 2008 · 5 Comments

Los Angeles was hit with a moderate sized earthquake just before noon this morning at 11:42am. The earthquake was centered 30 miles east of L.A. in Chino Hills and measured a 5.8. No damage has been reported but the quake was felt through Orange County into San Diego and as far as Las Vegas. For more details check out quake.usgs.gov.

Up here in Carlsbad many people at my work felt it strongly and others like me didn’t feel a thing. Did you feel the earthquake? If so tell us where you are.

Yeah I felt it in east Chula Vista. It felt like when you first get on a mid-size boat and it rocks.

Thankfully I have felt much worse in San Diego i.e. walls shaking, glass trembling, lasting multiple seconds.

I was at a funeral home in Pasadena near the freeway and standing in hallway due to large gatherining inside. There was a long rolling sound before the actual shake. I was surprised the number was so low, seemed stronger due to length of time and the jolt was a good one. I live in Echo Park and no damage, but cat threw up. It was his first earthquake exerience and all alone. My kids were at a summer camp in south pasadena and they all went outside for a few minutes.

No, I did not feel a thing. However, my husband, who works in high rise window cleaning, and was at the time hanging from the side of a building, felt it.

I was on the freeway and did not feel a thing, while every else I knew was freaked out about it. I always miss the earthquake excitement.
