A total of 96 people, 75 San Diego State students and 21 non students, were arrested for their involvment in the selling or buying cocaine, marijuana, or ecstasy were arrested. If you watched the final season of The Wire on HBO you might find some parallels in the story line with today’s news of the drug bust at SDSU.
The Drug Enforcement Agency’s undercover investigation, known as Operation Sudden Fall, was initiated in May of 2007 after an SDSU student was found dead of a drug overdose in her bedroom. DEA Agents infiltrated several student drug distribution cells and more than 130 drug purchases and seizures were made during the five-month operation.
A member of the Theta Chi fraternity sent out a mass text message to his “faithful customers” stating that he and his “associates” would be traveling to Las Vegas for the weekend and would not be able to complete cocaine sales during that time. He noted that they were having a “sale” on cocaine and listed the reduced prices.

Had this fraternity member watched The Wire he would have known that the kingpin Marlo Stanfield was brought down by his text messaging activities.
Another student arrested was a cocaine dealer on campus who was just one month away from obtaining his Masters Degree in Homeland Security and also worked as a student Community Service Officer on campus and reported to the campus police. Another student arrested for possession of 500 grams of cocaine and two guns is a Criminal Justice major.
Evidence seized includes four pounds of cocaine, 50 pounds of marijuana, 48 hydroponic marijuana plants, 350 ecstasy pills, psilocybin (mushrooms), 30 vials of hash oil, methamphetamine, various illicit prescription drugs, one shotgun, three semi-automatic pistols, three brass knuckles and $60,000 in cash.

50 pounds of marijuana? $60,000? YAWN
This is supposed to be impressive? Show me a campus where the DEA couldn’t find 50 pounds of pot.

Sorry to disappoint Marc, you might like our story from last year when $205 million dollars was seized in Mexico.
I think the importance of this drug bust is that they targeted a student ring, when was the last time you heard about the DEA doing that?

What I find interesting is the irony of it all. One student was about to get his masters in “homeland security” the other was about to get his degree in “criminal justice.” All of these activities totally disregard any knowlege or respect for homeland security as well as criminal justice. What idiots!? I sure hope it was worth it…

They keep arresting people! The guns and $60,000 in cash are the interesting part.
