The 2008 line up for the Coachella Valley Music Festival has been officially revealed. They announced the line-up on Monday, January 21 at an event in Mexico City. The festival will be held Friday through Sunday, April 25-27, 2008 in Indio, CA. I am a bit disappointed not to the see My Bloody Valentine on the bill, considering their much rumored reunion. Then again Cocteau Twins bowed out of their Coachella reunion appearance back in 2005. Also rumored to be on the bill was Radiohead, obviously that did not pan out (however they did play back in 2004).
A few other bands I would love to see at Coachella are The Smiths, Band of Horses, Beirut, The Veils and Celebration (an Operation Ivy reunion would be fun as well). Seeing Madness, Portishead, the Verve and several other great bands slated to play will make up for my disappointment. Roger Waters (Pink Floyd) will be playing “Dark Side of The Moon” in it’s entirety on Sunday. Cool thing is, San Diego will be represented by bands Grand Ole Party and Flogging Molly. On the 2008 bill there are a few bands that have already played in recent years but tend to draw a big crowd.
If you are planning to go and have yet to get a place to stay, I wish you luck in finding a hotel that has not tripled their rates for the weekend. There is still camping available and you may be able to find a hotel with reasonable rates just outside of Indio. All lodging and Coachella information can be found on their website: www.coachella.com. See ya there!
