
Smoke Plumes of San Diego Fires visible from NASA’s satellites, red areas show fire activity.
These latest images, captured by NASA satellites on the afternoon of October 22, show the thick, billowing smoke coming off the numerous large fires and spreading over the Pacific Ocean. Fire activity is outlined in red.
With over 640 square miles and more than 1,300 homes burned, NASA satellites are capturing extraordinary images of the wildfires in Southern California and in this case photos of San Diego. As of Wednesday morning evacuation calls were made to 346,000 homes in San Diego, and 560,000 people were ordered to leave.
