Just in case you didn’t notice our reddish / orange sunset today. The Harris fire has really started pushing west and have reached East Chula Vista. Some residents in Eastlake, Rolling Hills and surrounding areas have been evacuated, while others evacuate at will. Already it is raining ashes. I took off on Otay Lakes Rd. an as expected they had the street closed off and redirected people towards the Olympic training center.

There I found about 100 spectators at a nearby park, most with breathing masks taking pictures. After a few minutes I decided to follow the news crew to Proctor Valley Rd. I was front row to the fires, like a couple hundred yards away to where you can almost feel the heat. I set up my perk along a trail right off the Street, watching the Harris fire gain momentum. There were more spectators at this location just because the fires were a lot more visible. They set up at the same spot as four years ago, when the Cedar Fires happened.

House on the Hill

The talk amongst the crowd was the house that stood alone on hill. Apparently the owner of the house has been slowly building the house for quite sometime now. The bad part, the hill it was on was on fire. At times all you could see was the silhouette of the house. When I left the location it seemed like fire crews had the fire under control.

No Gas

Local Businesses such as the Eastlake Plaza (Target Shopping Center), Otay Ranch Town Center, Local Schools and even some gas stations are closed. Hopefully the can save that house. Remember if you live in the Chula Vista try to wear a face mask and don’t bother washing your car.
