With wildfires burning up San Diego county, and over 250,000 evacuated we thought we would provide a list of links to help information and resources.

If you’re asked to evacuate, Qualcomm Stadium has been established as the primary evacuation center for City of San Diego residents.

We just heard from rescuers who stopped by the evacuation center at Steele Canyon High School in Spring Valley.
They said that Crates/Carriers are especially needed, as are collars and leashes, kitty litter and disposable bowls. They have lots of food, however.
Dropping off goods is easy….in and out very easily!

Meanwhile, the San Diego Animal Support Foundation has compiled a list of nearly a hundred local good Samaritans who have offered housing for dogs, cats, horses and other livestock in this emergency. If people need a place to temporarily house their pets, they can call 619-847-8755 for the number of someone willing to take in their pet.

Update from the San Diego Animal Support Foundation:

We have fielded hundreds, if not thousands, of calls today from animal lovers who are wanting to help and those in need. At times our voicemail was overwhelmed, but I think we’re all caught up now. The response from good Samaritans wanting to help is incredible. We even have people as far as Colorado wanting to take in livestock for San Diegans, if necessary.

The Foundation has dozens of people standing by with trailers for transporting livestock.
We have dozens of places that can accommodate livestock (horses, cattle, sheep, goats).
We have about 50 temporary foster homes available for dogs, cats and bunnies. Some of these homes are even willing to open up a room for the people AND their pets.
What we CANNOT do: Go into evacuated areas and help people get out their pets. We need people to call and make arrangements NOW….not when they’re evacuated. We need people to call for horse trailers NOW…..not after they’re evacuated. We can’t do ANYTHING to help these people once the authorities have blocked entrances to their neighborhoods. Unfortunately, most people needing help are calling us too late.

Because most people who are being evacuated are not on the Internet, they can continue to call me at 619-847-8755. I will be answering calls through the night. If they get voicemail, their calls will be returned quickly, so they must leave a message.
People wanting to help can simply leave a message with their name, number, area where they live, and what they’re wanting to do or the type of animal they can accommodate, and they will be added to our emergency contact list. We will have people contact them directly.

PLEASE DO NOT HAVE PEOPLE CONTACT US FOR EMERGENCY FIRE, POLICE OR EVACUATION INFO. Many of the stations are giving out my number for this, and I unfortunately can’t help these people.

Many people in California lost everything including things that could help them cope, like priceless pictures and videos. If your family or friend is one of them and you have personal photos and video of them, I can put together a video for them for free. Just a little something to help them through a horrible time.
