Discbox + Download = Radiohead

Radiohead InRainbows The long awaited 8th album from Radiohead will finally be available on October 10. Yes, that’s tomorrow! The new Radiohead LP is titled In Rainbows and can only be found on the following website: http://www.inrainbows.com/. It has been four years since they put out Hail to the Thief and I am very curious to see what direction Radiohead took their music.

Here are the details: You can pre-order in discbox or download formats. You cannot download until October 10 and the custom made discbox will be shipped or received by December 3.

According to the In Rainbows website,
THE DISCBOX CONSISTS OF THE NEW ALBUM, IN RAINBOWS, ON CD AND ON 2 X 12 INCH HEAVYWEIGHT VINYL RECORDS.
A SECOND, ENHANCED CD CONTAINS MORE NEW SONGS, ALONG WITH DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHS AND ARTWORK.
THE DISCBOX ALSO INCLUDES ARTWORK AND LYRIC BOOKLETS.
ALL ARE ENCASED IN A HARDBACK BOOK AND SLIPCASE.
THE ALBUM DOWNLOAD AUTOMATICALLY COMES WITH THIS PACK.
DISCBOXES ARE BEING MADE TO ORDER AND ARE PRICED AT [40 Pounds British] INCLUDING POSTAGE.

While you do get a fair amount of goodies in the discbox for the price, the interesting thing about the downloads is that the price is up to the buyer. No joke, you name your price and you get the download. But be reasonable folks, since their EMI contract expired in 2005, Radiohead are still without a label (not that they need the money - if they did, they would not be doing this). If you would rather have a CD instead of a download or discbox, you can in 2008. Radiohead will be releasing In Rainbows in 2008 on CD format, but no label has been announced.

Radiohead have managed to take control of not only their record sales, but their ticket sales as well. W.A.S.T.E. is a merchandise company that sells all things Radiohead.

So the countdown continues, the new Radiohead album In Rainbows, will be officially released through download tomorrow, October 10. If you have logged on to the official Radiohead website in the past two weeks, or try to anytime soon, you will be directed to the In Rainbows site.

Great news for Radiohead fans, hopefully it turns out well and more bands follow suit.

I heard someone on the radio had trouble with a currency convertor. They thought they were paying $10 in pounds but ended up paying $16 when they saw there online bank statement. Make sure you crunch those numbers right, the Radiohead site requests payment in pounds.
