State of Emergency Declared for Mount Soledad Land Slide

By Merrick Lozano · October 9th, 2007 · No Comments

Did you miss it last week, the land slide on Mount Soledad in La Jolla? That was kind of hard to miss huh! The local media was on the scene all week, even CNN had live coverage. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger declared a state of emergency yesterday, which means state and possibly federal agencies will provide assistance.

Logan Jenkins of the Union Tribune wonders: would the land slide receive as much attention if it was not in La Jolla, of course not. But that does not mean there are not lessons to be learned here for residents of all San Diego county, the first one read the disclosures when you buy a home. Buried in all those papers you have to sign should be something about earth moving fault lines and how they can affect your property.
