jerky.jpgThe American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) has recently been made aware of several complaints from pet owners and veterinarians that certain brands of jerky treats manufactured in China have been making pets sick. Symptoms of illness have included vomiting, diarrhea, and lethargy. When the press release was released on the 14th no deaths have been reported. Although Melanine, one of the chemicals that killed hundreds of pets and forced a major recall of petfood, was ruled out they do tell pet owners to proceed with caution. No brands have been released but they do say all brands in the investigation do come from China. For more information visit the American Veterinary Medical Association’s website or download the press release www.acvim.org/uploadedFiles/Jerky_Treat_Info_September_14.doc.
