The Arizona Diamondbacks took an 8-0 lead last night and fought off the Padres seven run rally to regain first place in the NL West. The Padres Chris Young wasn’t his normal self, the Diamondbacks took advantage.
The Padres are now one game back and will play the Dodgers’ tonight at Petco Park. Former Padre, David Wells will be on the mound for the Dodgers and looking to keep the Padres down. While pitching for the Padres, Wells went 6-10 in 27 starts. Hopefully the Padres can capitalize on their decision to let Wells go earlier this month and take a much needed win against the Dodgers.
The Diamondbacks will face off against the Colorado Rockies tonight. The Diamondbacks are gambling by placing Livan Hernandez on the mound, Hernandez has only rested three days and he lost four of five career short rest starts.
I’m no odds maker, but barring any anomalies in either game the Padres should tie the Diamondbacks for first place tonight.
