The Veils This band recently played at The Beauty Bar, they are great live. They rock out in their live set more so than on the album. None the less, Finn Andrew (son of Barry Andrews - XTC, Shriekback) has an amazing voice and lyrics that surpass his age. Nux Vomica is the name of their newest album and is out now.

Band of Horses The Seattle based band, Band of Horses are back with their new album, Cease To Begin on the Sub Pop record label and hits stores on October 9th. Band of Horses will be touring during the month of September but the closest they will get to San Diego on this leg of the tour is Los Angeles. They will perform at The Wiltern on September 8 with Dinosaur Jr.

Dappled Cities This five-piece indie band from Sydney, Australia are also known as Dappled Cities Fly. In July, they played at The Beauty Bar with Tokyo Police Club (another good band to check out) and put on a great show. Their most recent album Granddance is out in stores now.

The Hold Steady If Harry Potter loves this band, they must have the magic touch. Ha ha. Yes, Daniel Radcliffe (aka Harry Potter) named The Hold Steady as his favorite band, and many other people including myself really enjoy this Brooklyn-based quintet. The band has gotten some recognition this year, by lending their songs to a couple of soundtracks, including Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film For Theaters.
