A new spot in the East Village called Neighborhood caters to beer and wine lovers and specializes in burgers with a twist.
With the rapid development of living space in the East Village, it’s no surprise to see additional eating establishments on the outskirts of downtown. Neighborhood, the newest kid on the block, is located on the corner of 8th and G Street and is a nice alternative to dealing with the crowds in the Gaslamp.
The great thing about Neighborhood is it’s small, casual setting and their selection of beer and wine. They have a good variety of local brews in addition to imports including Chimay and Delirium Tremens. Their menu includes specialty burgers, salads, appetizers and flights of wine with a variety of cheeses.
Check out Neighborhood’s happy hour Monday through Thursday from 4p – 7p when you can get 2 for 1 of the featured local brew. Here is the rundown:
Mon – Stone Brewery
Tuesday – Ballast Point
Wednesday – Green Flash
Thursday – Ale Smith
You can find Neighborhood on 777 G Street, San Diego. Call 619-446-0002 for hours.

Just moved to the East Village on the weekend. Ate at Neighborhood on Sunday night. They have 21 beers on tap and a good variety of wine. Staff was friendly and attentive. Had the Spicy Chipotle burger, which comes on ciabatta bread, with a Lightning beer. Both were good. Neighborhood is open from 4pm to Midnight.

I actually hit up Neighborhood on Saturday evening for a little night cap after hitting 5th. I ordered the garlic fries & veggie rolls which hit the spot and a Port which will draw me back there frequently…

Looks like I’ve found a new lunch spot during the work week.

Another great area that is constantly booming with great food is North Park. Right now, North Park is awaiting its newest arrival of the Commonwealth Cafe. From what I read in other blogs about this late-night diner, this place is going to be a hit because of its mac and cheese! Commonwealth Cafe serves all types of comfort food- burgers, grilled cheese sandwiches, chili, coleslaw, and even homemade pie. Right now Commonwealth is going through some dining hour issues with the city of San Diego and needs all the help they can get!!! Originally wanting to operate for 24 hours, Commonwealth is now receiving restrictions being able to stay open until 12 am. The food here is fantastic and we should all try to do what we can to help this diner fully stay open. For more info on the diner visit http://www.TheCommonwealthCafe.com

Love this place! I have lived downtown for 7 years and this is my new fav cool place to take anyone. Fun wine, great beer… I have been with the girls out, brought in a client and had friends from out of town come too! It is casual urban elegance where u can lay back and have burgers with a twist! Please dont go all at once, I still want to be able to get a table. Alexandra
